The U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) recently conducted a compliance review on Vulcan Information Packaging.  This review resulted in a finding of compensation discrimination against 21 women.  OFCCP alleges Vulcan discriminated against women by hiring them into lower paying positions compared to men in the same job group.  A regression analysis performed by OFCCP found that Vulcan disproportionately assigned women into lower paying positions while assigning men to higher paying positions in the same job group.  Although the women had more experience, they earned significantly less than the men.

Vulcan will pay a total of $56,000 to resolve the allegations and will also revise its compensation and job placement policies and procedures.
